Hello from Gibson's BC! Today is day four of our adventure and there is so much to share! Here is a brief review of our time here so far:

Day One
-woke up at 3:30am to go to the airport.
-arrived at Vancouver airport at 8am Vancouver time.
-took the airport limo to Horseshow Bay
-met Peter's brother Ian for breakfast
-got on the ferry at 11:20am. Met Leon on the ferry - he was just hired to work over in Gibsons at the new emergency shelter
-we were met by Capt Glyn and Diane Cross over on the coast - the Sunshine Coast is a peninsula, not an island. (very important to know that!)
-arrived at the DC's cottage at Camp Sunrise - that is where we are staying. It is right on the ocean.
-by the way,, Day One was beautiful weather - blue sky and sunshine. Temperature was warm and there is no snow to be seen.
-got a tour of Gibson's and the Sunshine Coast (about 6000 people living in Gibsons)
-the Officers are in charge of the Corps, Family Services, Two Thrift stores and now a new emergency shelter.
-We went to the emergency shelter to see what work had to be done there. They just found out that they can run the shelter for the winter. It will be opening this Friday on any nights that the temperature goes below 0 degrees.
-That night was junior youth group so we got to play some games and help out with that.

Day Two
-into the office at 9am. Peter went to collect bread and produce for the food bank while I counted money and entered information into the computer. I was amazed at how many donations were coming in for the community Christmas dinner.
-I ate lunch with the 'Lunch for Friends' that takes place every Tuesday and Friday. During that time Peter helped move furniture at the Shelter.
-In the afternoon, we gave out Sunshine bags at two nursing homes and at the hospital. I've been blessed by all of the seniors who recognize the Army Uniform from the days of the war - they have many stories to tell.
-That evening we got to rest which was good because I have been battling a cold since we landed.

Day Three.
-into the office at 9am to work on our sermons.
-we interacted with some of the people coming in to get bread and produce
-went to the Legion at noon for their Christmas dinner. We were offered red or white wine but we had to turn it down because we were in uniform....Peter did draw the 50/50 winning ticket though and upset the old ladies at our table because he didn't draw their number!
-later in the afternoon I did an order of service for Sunday and then went to join Peter on the outdoor kettle at the IGA until 6pm.

Today is Day Four -I will update about that later! I love the weater here (I think I said that already!) Peter was going around in t-shirt yesturday! And the thrift store was having a side walk sale!! Lots of fun times!!
