Two more weeks until vacation begins....the summer has gone by so fast. It seems as though it was only yesturday that we landed in Deer Lake to visit my parents and now we are coming quickly upon the time to go back to school again! Our summer has been very good and it will be nice to have some time off before everything starts up again.
Today was another hot day out and because Monday's are our day off we took some time to go out and side by one of the many fountains that are near our house. It was nice to sit and relax and watch people go by.
Peter managed to create another list of lessons learned by us. It's amazing how much there is to learn and how much stuff happens in just a couple of days.....so...here's the list....
1. It is completely acceptable if your pants get wet to run around in your tighty whiteies (or blackies in this case).
2. As nobody wears a hat in this country you can imagine how well a man in a Tilley stands out!
3. It appears that the toilet is equipped with some sort of air-horn which is used to signal the end of the flushing sequence.
4. If you are worried about being lonely when on the toilet (which I am sure is a fear you all have) do not worry because the lid is more than willing to give you a hug the entire time you are seated.
5. The difficulty in explaining "wrong number" in Russian is far greater than you would imagine.
6. Do not be surprised if someone shows up at your door and wants to measure your bathroom.
7. If you dare purchase meat it is a good idea to purchase a large knife as well as it appears to be your own responsibility to remove the hoof and skin from whatever it is that you are about to bite into.
8. If you are going to busk be prepared for groups of men dressed in 1940's style striped sailor shirts to join in with you.
9. The "Littlest Hobo" would be in good company here. Based on the number of wild dogs and cats roaming the streets I am going to go ahead and presume Dneprepotrovsk does not have a dog catcher!
10. When a wild dog stumbles upon a wild cat you better go and make some popcorn because you are in for a great show! Even the locals thought it was picture worthy!
