The other day Peter wanted me to tell him about some of the Goulding Family Christmas Traditions...thought I would share some of my favorite with you:
-every year we get a real tree. We would bring home 2 or 3 from the woods so that mom could choose which one she liked the best. Dad and I used to be the ones to put all of the lights on as mom and my brothers would take out all of the decorations. Every year the tree would be unique in form and shape - one year dad had to insert branches from another tree to fill in the gaps!
-My favorite Christmas show to watch with my brothers is The Muppets Family Christmas. My younger brother (who is now 12) and I used to be able to recite the entire thing.
-Every year on Christmas Eve we would recieve a visit or a phone call from Santa right before bedtime...and he would always bring us new pajamas to wear to bed that night.
-In Newfoundland it is a tradition to have mummers come to your door during the 12 days of Christmas. My dad would always dress up and come to the door to surprise us...he would have socks on his hands and rubber boots on the wrong feet and usually a pillow case over his head so we could not tell who it was!
-We always had Purity syrup in our house during the holidays. Mom and I would also spend an afternoon baking five star bars, haystacks and fudge!
There are a lot more memories that I may continue to share as the holiday's get closer. This year I look forward to starting new family memories as a part of the Robinson family!!
