It was a super sunshiny weekend...and I got to do stuff that had me outdoors for most of it...
-Friday evening began with having Peter's ma over for dinner to surprise him. It was a quick get-together because Peter and I had a softball game in Okotoks at 7:45pm. (South Meadows was in a ball tournament all weekend!)
-My friend Melanie and I had to play in the Friday nights game because they were short players; I prefer to score keep or watch the baby that comes to cheer on his mom and dad but playing wasn't too bad. It was my first game in about 2 years - they let me play back catcher which I like. Melanie managed to score a run!!!! I was so proud of her - I was jumping up and down and everything!! After the game we dropped Melanie home and it took us nearly 2 hours to get back to our house because of construction!!
-Saturday morning I had to get up bright and early at 8am to go to a meeting for Wilderness Camp which is a part of FORWARD 2006 happening in Red Deer at the end of June. I got to spray paint and make signs for the decorations. If anyone wants to volunteer to work with childrenfor this weekend - let me know!!!!! I can get you in for free!!! We are still in desperate need of volunteers!!!!
-Right after the meeting, I drove as fast as I could (without getting a ticket of course) to the ball diamonds for 2 more games!! I managed to get a walk to the first base and then ran to third before getting out - that was the closest I made it to home!! When I got the walk I was so excited and everything thought it was super funny that I was so excited about not striking out!! It was a big accomplishment for me!! We lost both games but I managed to start my summer tan which is always a bonus!! In between the 2 games we went to our friends house in high river for a bbq and some trampoline jumping with the twins!!!
-Saturday night was more or less relaxing and getting rested for the 7:45am (yes AM) game the next morning! I was so tired at that game - but we were very close to winning!!! I played third base and I nearly caught the ball once!!! We ended the game, raced home to shower and then made it in time for church. Steve's sermon was very good this past week - he mentioned something similar to what I wrote in my last post. He spoke about prayer and how often we tend to give up talking with God after He gives us what we want and we only start up the dialogue with Him again when we are in need of something. He said that God longs for us to dialogue with Him in prayer and He often doesn't answer us right away because He wants to teach us to keep talking to Him. It was a good point - you probably had to be there!
-Sunday afternoon was our last small group in High River. It was a really great time with one other couple who we have gotten to know a lot because of this group. Their twin boys are the cutiest and even made me cry that afternoon....one of the twins was shy and crying as he sat in his mom's lap and his brother came over and gave him a hug and told him that everything was going to be okay - it literally moved me to tears!! His mom said that is was my ovaries talking!! I just love those boys so much! We went to dinner afterward the bible study to a Chinese restaurant and when we were done, one of the twins said in his little 2 year old voice 'thank you Pete'. So cute!!
-Wow, I just wrote way too much!!! Time to go back to work!
