All week I have been captivated by the news about the shootings in southern Pennsylvania. How someone could take away such young lives is beyond me, but what has interested me the most is how the Amish community has responded. They are full of forgiveness and say that what happened was all in God's plan. I heard on the radio this morning someone from the Amish community saying, 'if this didn't happen (meaning the shooting in the school), then something else would have happened to take away these girls lives. It was their time to go.' I find it hard to believe that if this crazy milk man hadn't gone in with guns that these children would have died by some other cause. Is God really like that??
We Christians believe in forgiveness but I don't think I could forgive as easily if I were in the same situation. Does that say anything about my faith or about my love for others? Probably. It's a tough one to swallow.

I believe in forgiveness...Don't know how easy I would find it in this type of situation...but I still believe in it.
I don't believe that this is part of God's plan though...sin was never part of God's plan.

I totally believe in forgiveness - hopefully I didn't suggest that I don't. I just find it hard in this situation and I don't know if I would be as quick to forgive as these people already have.
