I'm sure some of you have been wondering what has been happening since we have begun our journey here in Winnipeg, so I thought I should provide you with a little update of what has been happening, how I've been feeling...that sort of thing! Here goes....

~our drive here was pretty unexciting, except for our little stop at the set of Corner Gas!
~Peter stopped the car in Sask. so that I could get out and pick some wheat for our dining room table center piece....he thought it was a pretty silly thing to do.....but the center piece looks great now!
~we arrived in Winnipeg on Sunday evening. We moved into our condo on Monday morning. Our stuff wasn't here, even though the movers picked it up on the 15th. In couple of hours though the moving truck showed up and everything was all in one piece.
~I love our new home. It's very very big and brand new. The appliances are brand new and a lot bigger than what I'm used to. We have a LARGE walk in closet of the master bedroom and a large master bedroom washroom. We have a kicthen eatting area and then a seperate dinning room. We have a balcony and a nice yard (we are on the main floor - no stairs for the groceries!)We have underground, heated parking. I really really like the place very much.
~Yesturday was our first day at the college...the new CFOT (College for Officer Training) is very beautiful - I was quite impressed.
~the staff are great and they took us to a drive in for ice cream last night!!! It's like Peter's Drive in in Calgary - but WAY cheaper and WAY bigger ice cream portions!! Very very yummy!
~the people that are going to be going to college with us (our session mates) are all very great as well. There are 16 of us in total and Peter and I are the only couple without children. The kids are the cutest and lots of fun to be with.
~Tomorrow I find out what courses I get to take - I'm hoping that I don't have to take the same course over again that I already did while I was attending Booth College.
~This semester we go to a different church every week as a large group. We go to not only Salvation Army churches, but Anglican, Orthodox, Mennonite, and various other churches around the city.
~On Thursday for our field class, we go on field trips in this first semester. Sometimes we will just walk around downtown, other times we will go for coffee, and sometimes even to the theater.
~I had forgotten how Winnipeg is so full of culture and things to do and see for free....the Forks, tons of parks, walking paths, duck ponds...lots of cool stuff.
~When I lived here before I was stickly downtown, but now I am seeing way more of the city , now that I am further south and I have a car to use. I think I will like living in Winnipeg way better this time.
~I am enjoying the short drive to school...only 15 mins...it's funny how some of the cadets feel that it is a long drive, but coming from Calgary it's awesome!! I love the slower pace and the fewer cars on the street!
~The recycling here sucks...you pay the deposit on bottles and cans, but there is no bottle depot to get the refund!
~It's much more humid here then it is in Calgary.....big, frizzy hair is on it's way!
~We have started wearing our uniform everyday to school....it's not as bad as I thought...I get to wear pants and only have to wear panty hose on Sundays and other formal events. Peter can't wear his earrings, and for those of you following along at home, he didn't question it - he just agreed to not wear them. My hair can't be down because it's too long, but I'm okay with that.
~By the end of Sept we are giong to find out where we are going for our winter assignment - so I will keep you posted!!
~Thanks for all your prayers and support...I miss everyone so much!!!!!!! But I'm also glad that things are going well and that I'm feelings not too overwhelmed thus far!
