The long weekend was very good and now we are ready to begin class on Wednesday. I still can't believe that I don't go to work everyday, I just sit in class for a couple of hours, some days have chapel and that is it. So far college really isn't too bad or too stressful (probably because classes don't start until tomorrow!). As far as our schedule goes though, it doesn't seem to bad at all. We have 5 courses plus field but I am done every day at noon, other than on Mondays. Chapel is 3 times a week, and so far I'm not on the schedule so no need to stress about that yet! Our field this semester is on Thursday afternoons but we just go places as a group, like go to the theatre or for walks around downtown. Can't complain about that.
I was able to get my courses transfered over that I did when I completed my social work degree. That means I get to start working on a Masters degree. This semester I am taking theology at the graduate level...that's a little scary considering that I got through intro to theology without understanding a single word of it.
This past Sunday we got to choose were we wanted to go to church. We went to Southlands, the church that I attended for 2 years when I lived here before. It was good, but I really missed South Meadows. From now on, we are going to be going to a differnet church every week as a group. I like the idea of getting to see various forms of worship but I think that I will miss having a 'home church' as well. We will be going to all of the Salvation Army churches as well as Anglican churches, Mennonite, etc.
Today was our Welcome Assembly chapel. We were singing some of the old hymns, and I found myself really celebrating the Army and what it represents, at the same time, I felt as though I had disconnected from that culture of 'church' about 10 years ago and was suddenly brought back into my past of bass drums and marching with the flag. I found myself missing that tradition and happy to be singing out my Army roots, yet at the same time, I found myself hopeing that I don't loose my unique sense of worship either. Lots of mixed feelings there I think.
Anyhoo....that is all for today....time to go watch Canadian Idol which comes on crazy early here!!! I don't have to try to keep myself awake to watch all the good shows anymore!! That's another great thing about Winnipeg!
